Child Care and Early
Education Task Force - will hold its next
meeting at 11:45 a.m. on Wednesday, October 19th at Mount Olive Preschool (located at
1343 Ocean Park Blvd., Santa Monica, CA 90405).
For this meeting, the Task Force will divide
into its Public Policy and
Professional Development Work Groups.

Commission on the Status of Women

Next Meeting - moved to
October 19th. The next meeting of
the Commission on the Status
of Women will start at 7 p.m. on Wednesday,
October 19th at the Ken Edwards Center (1527
4th Street)--the Commission moved the
meeting from the 2nd Wednesday of the month
(October 12th) in observance of Yom Kippur.

Tales from the Trail -
September 29th. The Commission on
the Status of Women will host “Tales from
the Trail,” a discussion with women who have
recently run for public office, on Thursday,
September 29 at 7 p.m. at the Ken Edwards
Center (1527 4th Street in Santa Monica).
Former candidates participating include:
Patricia Hoffman, Ana Jara, Maria Loya,
Susanne Trimbath and Maria Leon Vasquez.
The event is free and the public is invited

Outstanding Woman Leader
Award - Mimi Lind. The Commission
on the Status of Women presented its
first-ever Outstanding Woman Leader Award to
Mimi Lind, founder of the Safe Families
Domestic Violence Intervention Program at
the Venice Family Clinic and past director
of the Westside Domestic Violence Network,
on Wednesday, September 14th at 7 p.m. at
the Ken Edwards Center.
