We
heard what you had to say! The City of Santa Monica
heard a wonderful assortment of ideas, concerns and suggestions
through Community Voices 2006, an extensive,
community-wide planning process that involved listening to the
community on a wide range of human service needs, with a special
focus on the needs of seniors and families with after-school
program and childcare needs. The information gathered
through Community Voices 2006 will help guide the
development of funding priorities for the next Community
Development Program's three-year grant cycle (FY 2007-10) and to
provide valuable information that will be used to refine the
City's direct service programs.
A
huge thanks goes out to everyone who participated in the various
focus groups and who completed the survey either online or on
paper -- over 400 community members did so!
Congratulations to the following people who have won a prize in
the survey drawing:

The
Community Voices 2006
final report was recently released and is now available. This report is
designed to make the data accessible and findings easy to use
for those who, in the course of their work or volunteer work
within the City, are involved in the complex process of decision
making about addressing the diverse human service needs of the
Santa Monica community. This report serves to supplement and, in
some cases, update data from the Community Voices Final Report
(May 2003).
Community Voices 1999 and 2002 -- In 1999-2000, the Human Services Division engaged in a
comprehensive community planning process: Community Voices. The
Community Voices Final Report (English
version;
Spanish version) was released March 2000. In 2002-03, the Community Voices
project updated data and identified new needs and trends, took a special look at the needs
of young people, through a variety of means and sources, including analyzing Census 2000
data and discussions with community members. The
Community Voices Final Report,
released May 2003, summarizes information gathered from various sectors of the community.
