[City Of Santa Monica: Maintenance Management Division]

[Trades Intern Program]

Welcome to the City of Santa Monica's Maintenance Management website. The Maintenance Management Division is located in the bustling City Yards on Michigan Avenue right next to Bergamot Station.

We are the men and women who pave potholes, change street & park lights, remove graffiti; we maintain over 160 city-owned facilities, and keep the city's fleet of almost 600 vehicles running environmentally safe and efficient... and much, much more.

There are three divisions in Maintenance Management:

  • Fleet Management is responsible for ensuring City vehicles are available, dependable, safe to operate, and alternatively fueled.
  • Street Maintenance is responsible for pavement maintenance of all public right-of-ways, City-owned parking lots and State highways.
  • Facilities Management performs general and electrical maintenance and repairs at all City facilities, building inspections, reconstruction and remodeling of City facilities, and maintains street and park lights throughout the City.

We have a Central Warehouse that supplies over 2500 items to City Departments -- from finish nails for Carpentry to 12" wide pipe for Utilities Division. We carry only environmentally safe cleaning products for use by City Custodians. In addition, we run a Trades Intern Program for local youths (18 years or older). The Interns receive 2 years paid-on-the-job-training in street repair, carpentry, plumbing, electricians, painting & fleet repair, where they gain valuable skills necessary for their future employment. For more information call Chrysalis at (310) 392-4117. [We care about our environment]

The staff of the Maintenance Management Division is dedicated to innovating more efficient and safe methods to serve the residents of Santa Monica and to meet the Sustainable City goal of protecting the City's natural environment.

We are busy working for you and we hope that this site will be informative and helpful.
