Leadership, Guidance and Implementation of the Sustainable City Plan
The City's
Task Force on the Environment
provided
leadership on behalf of the community for the
Sustainable City Plan (SCP) since the Plan was adopted in 1994.
With the update and expansion of the Sustainable
City Plan into new and more diverse goal areas, the
Task Force on the Environment recommended the
creation of a Sustainable City Task Force (SCTF).
The SCTF includes broad representation from community
stakeholders with expertise in all of the SCP goal
areas to guide the program in the future. The City
Council created the
Sustainable
City Task Force and appointed 11
membersof
the community with expertise in the various areas of
sustainability on March 23, 2004.
An interdepartmental Sustainable City Advisory
Team, chaired by a representative from the City
Manager's office, was created to coordinate existing
City activities so they are consistent with the
Sustainable City Plan goals and to help facilitate
the future implementation of innovative programs and
policies. Members of this group
serve as Sustainable City Plan liaisons to their
respective departments.
The SCTF and the Sustainable City Advisory Team
are both responsible for developing a comprehensive
implementation plan for meeting Sustainable City
goals and targets, and for coordinating
implementation, both interdepartmentally and within
community stakeholder groups. |
