Transportation of Hazardous Waste:

Proper Transport of Hazardous Waste: State and federal law prohibits the transport of over 15 gallons or 125 pounds of hazardous waste at any one time. A special variance may be issued through the City to allow a business to legally transport between 15 and up to 27 gallons or 220 pounds of hazardous waste at one time to the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility. No variance is necessary for shipments of up to 15 gallons. Businesses may request this variance when making their drop-off appointment.

When transporting hazardous waste to the collection facility, all materials should be in an original container if possible and covered with a secure fitting lid. The contents of each container must be clearly labeled.
