DECEMBER 12, 2005 MEETING OF THE
CITY OF SANTA MONICA
SUSTAINABLE CITY TASK FORCE
The meeting was convened at 7:15
p.m. SCTF members in attendance: Sandy
Grant, Jim Ries, Mark Olson and Christina Erickson. City staff: Dean Kubani. Others: Matt Petersen
Public Input on Agenda Items
There was no
public input.
Approval of minutes from the November 14, 2005 Meeting
This item was
deferred until the January 9, 2006 meeting due to lack of quorum.
Discussion and
Recommendations Regarding SCTF Composition, Policies and Member
Responsibilities
SCTF members reviewed meeting attendance records for the past 18 months
and discussed the urgent need for better consistency with member attendance at
monthly meetings. No action was taken
due to lack of quorum and discussion on this item will be continued at the
January 9, 2006 meeting.
Discussion and
Recommendations Regarding Draft Sustainable City Plan Implementation Plan
Matt Petersen from the City’s Task Force on the Environment was invited
by Sandy Grant to discuss potential strategies for the SCTF to improve
community engagement around the SCTF. He
also recommended that the SCTF work closely with its City Council liaison prior
to making any recommendations to City Council, and that the SCTF make an appointment
to meet with the new City
Manager early in the New Year.
Sandy Grant presented a model to clarify structure of the SCP
Implementation Plan and the roles of the SCTF, community stakeholders, experts
and the proposed community sustainability liaison in implementation. No action was taken due to lack of quorum
and discussion on this item will be continued at the January 9, 2006 meeting.
Subcommittee Reports
Sandy Grant provided an update regarding her recent community outreach
efforts with Santa Monica College and Santa Monica Malibu
Unified School
District.
