Technology that connects you to government
The Information Systems Department (ISD) implements and maintains secure, reliable, and customer-oriented information technology solutions. ISD implements innovative technology projects that deliver information and city services, support customer service excellence, reinforce Santa Monica sustainability goals, nurture growth of our Tech businesses, increase efficiency, and enhance the overall quality of life for our residents.
We make information accessible and sustainable by offering electronic data, interactive geospatial applications, Wi-Fi access, and use the latest technology to make it easy and convenient to connect with City Hall.
ISD supports a local and wide area network, with approximately 130 servers that provide major software applications to over 1,600 computer users. ISD also manages the city's telecommunication systems, including fiber-optic networks, unified communications, and the city's websites.
In addition, our team provides technical support and training to city staff and residents to empower them to be productive users of software applications and maintain our tech-savvy community. Our qualified staff develops and maintains information technology standards, system security policies, processes, and practices to enable effective and efficient delivery of information.
