The mission of the Finance Department is to provide sound business, financial and risk management support to internal and external customers, ensuring continuation of public services to the residents, visitors and businesses of Santa Monica through the protection of financial resources.

The City of Santa Monica (the “Issuer”) is posting this information with the intent that market participants may provide advice to us regarding municipal financial products and the issuance of municipal securities and utilize the independent registered municipal advisor exemption from the municipal advisor definition in Securities and Exchange Commission rules.

The Issuer is currently represented by, and will rely on the advice of (in the sense that it will seek and consider the advice, analysis and perspective of, before making a determination), Public Resources Advisory Group, in considering information (other than general information that does not involve a recommendation) that you provide to us regarding municipal financial products and the issuance of municipal securities.

The Issuer made inquiry and was informed that there are Associated Individuals that are current employees of Public Resources Advisory Group who were employed within the past two years by a broker-dealer firm in the capacity of an Associated Individual. Public Resources Advisory Group has advised us that such Associated Individuals will not be participating in any matter that involves municipal advisory activity for the Issuer in which the broker-dealer firm is involved in any role as a transaction participant firm during the applicable two-year period. (Printer Friendly)

Payment for utility bills, parking citations, and business license renewal may be placed in the blue drop box located in the courtyard in the back of City Hall at 1685 Main Street, Santa Monica or by visiting our public counter during regular business hours.  The public counter is located on the ground floor at 1717 4th Street, Suite 150.

Unclaimed Property Notice

Under Government Code Section 50050/50057, funds that are not the property of a local agency that remain unclaimed for three years become the property of the local agency after notice if not claimed or if no verified complaint is filed and served. At any time after the expiration of the three-year period, the City of Santa Monica’s Finance Department will post a listing of the stale-dated unclaimed property for two successive weeks online and at three separate locations: at the City Hall Information Desk; at the Public Safety Facility’s counter next to the City Council Agenda folder; and at the Main Library’s bulletin board next to the public copy machine. The listing states the payee’s name and the amount the check was issued for. It is proposed that the money will become the property of the City on a designated date not less than 45 days nor more than 60 days after the first publication of the notice. Upon or prior to publication, a party of interest may file a claim with the Finance Department which must include the claimant’s name, address, amount of the claim, the grounds on which the claim is founded and the taxpayer’s ID number or Social Security number. The Finance Department shall accept or reject that claim. When any such money becomes the property of the City, the legislative body may transfer it to the General Fund.

The City will be publishing the following list and the period to submit a claim will end on August 17, 2015. Please ensure that your completed claim form is mailed with an original signature to the City Santa Monica, Attn: Financial Operations, 1717 4th Street, Suite 250, Santa Monica, CA. 90401.
