Participant must be a citizen or legal resident; financially in need of the services of an ophthalmologist; without access to an ophthalmologist or to other care (an HMO, VA hospital, etc.).
Qualified patients are referred to an ophthalmologist in the local area who volunteers a medical eye examination and follow-up care. The patient’s insurance, but not the patient, may be billed. Not an eyeglass program.
