The Community Maintenance Department, created in
2007, is charged with maintaining and enhancing city
assets including buildings,
public landscapes,
vehicle fleet, traffic operations, and visitor-serving venues by developing and implementing
cost-effective best practices and
customer
service standards for consistent service.
The department is responsible
for maintaining the city's open space system of
parks, public landscapes and community forest,
as well as maintenance of
city beaches,
the Santa
Monica Pier,
Third
Street Promenade and Santa Monica Airport.
