Council Meeting Wrap-Up

Adoption of FY 2008-09 budget, resolutions approving of personnel changes, rates, and fees, and establishing the City's Gann appropriations limit – After hearing a report highlighting changes from the proposed budget presented in May, public input and discussion, Council adopted the fiscal year 2008-2009 budget, as amended with $119,000 for additional tree maintenance, $40,000 for Pier Holiday lights, $32,000 for the Cal Safe Program, $100,000 for public art maintenance, $200,000 for a signal on PCH at the Beach Lot 1 North and $10,000 towards Third Street Historic District identity. Council directed staff to segregate airport fines for use on mitigation projects, consistent with applicable law; directed staff to return by midyear with a review of Fire dispatch and review of alternatives.  

Land Use and Circulation Element (LUCE) Strategy Framework – Council discussed Strategy Frameworks related to transportation including:  Streets, Walking Bicycle Network, Auto Network, Managing Congestion and Trip Reduction Strategies, and Parking. Council continued the item to June 24 for further discussion.

ADJOURNMENT AND NEXT MEETING - The meeting was adjourned at 11:07 in memory of Eugene Harding, who is a long time Santa Monica resident.  The next meeting of the Santa Monica City Council is on Tuesday, June 24, 2008 beginning at 5:45 p.m. in the wheelchair-accessible Council Chamber at City Hall.   Council meetings are aired live on CityTV Channel 16 and on the Netcast on the city's website and, for regularly scheduled meetings, from 8 p.m. to midnight on KCRW 89.9 FM.
