Study Session - The Council 2008-09 Budget Study Sessions began with a presentation by P. Lamont Ewell detailing the current economic conditions and highlighting the budget’s focus of creating and sustaining our future, while illustrating the challenges of delivering services in a weakened economy. Also presented were the Capital Improvement Project Budget and the departments of City Council, City Manager, Airport, Records and Election Services, City Attorney, Human Resources, Finance & Risk Management, Information Systems, Community Maintenance and Planning and Community Development. 

Closed Session – Council awarded a settlement in the amount of $21,000,000 related to the Farmer’s Market incident.

ADJOURNMENT AND NEXT MEETING - The meeting was adjourned at 9:35 p.m. The next meeting of the Santa Monica City Council is a special meeting on Wednesday, May 21, 2008 beginning at 5:45 p.m. in the wheelchair-accessible Council Chamber at City Hall.   Council meetings are aired live on CityTV Channel 16 and on the Netcast on the city's website and, for regularly scheduled meetings, from 8 p.m. to midnight on KCRW 89.9 FM.
