Consent Calendar – Among matters not requiring extensive discussion, the Council approved an amendment to a contract with Encorp Environmental Management Services for additional environmental assessment at the Annenberg Community Beach Club at Santa Monica State Beach and a modification to an agreement with Black & Veatch related to the seismic retrofit of City Hall.  

Study Session – The Council 2007-08 Budget Study Sessions, begun at the Council meeting of May 22 and continued on May 23, concluded with 24 public speakers and Council discussion related to grant funding recommendations included in the proposed community development plan and cultural/arts support program plan. The plans will be presented to Council for adoption on June 12.   

Ordinances – Council introduced an ordinance, as amended, modifying Municipal Code provisions related to the amount of permanent relocation fees, governing remedies for relocation violations and governing rights and responsibilities related to temporary relocation benefits.

Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District Master Facility Use Agreement – Following an extensive public hearing and lengthy discussion, regarding increasing the city’s base payment to the school district by $530,000 for a total of $7.2 million, including CIP, Council directed that the proposed increase in base funds is to be held in reserve until various unresolved issues are addressed.

Adjournment and Next Meeting - The meeting was adjourned at 11:53 p.m. in memory of Yolanda King, who was involved in the Santa Monica community and daughter of Martin Luther King Jr.  The next meeting of the Santa Monica City Council is on Tuesday, June 12, 2007 beginning at 5:45 p.m. in the wheelchair-accessible Council Chamber at City Hall.  

Council meetings are aired live on CityTV Channel 16 and on the Netcast on the city's website and, for regularly scheduled meetings, from 8 p.m. to midnight on KCRW 89.9 FM.
