EMPLOYMENT AGREEMENT

 

 

 

            This Employment Agreement (“Agreement”), retroactive to January 1, 2008, by and between the CITY OF SANTA MONICA (“City”) and BRUCE LEACH (“Employee”), is made with reference to the following:

RECITALS

            A.  A new limited term position of Special Projects Administrator in the unclassified service is being established in the City Manager’s Office retroactive to January 1, 2008. 

            B.  The salary for that position will be a one-step salary of $93,060 per year, paid on a bi-weekly basis.

            C.  The term of the position will be from January 1, 2008 through September 30, 2008, at which time the Employee shall be separated from City service.

            D.  The position will be assigned by the City Manager’s Office as required and be funded by savings from the vacancy of the Special Projects Manager position in the Planning and Community Development Department (PCD).

            E.   As part of the FY2008-2009 budget, the appropriate job classification and salary range will be established to replace the currently vacant Special Projects Manager position in PCD.  This will be a permanent position in PCD.

            F.  A recruitment to fill the reclassified position in PCD will be conducted, with the permanent position to be filled by September 30, 2008.

 

            NOW, THEREFORE, City and Employee agree as follows:

            1.  Wages.  Retroactive to January 1, 2008, the salary of the employee shall be set at $93,060 per year to be paid on a bi-weekly basis

                       

            2.  Benefits.  Except for wages, which shall be as described in Subsection 1 of this contract, the Employee shall have the benefits and privileges of employment as set forth in the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the City and the Administrative Team Associates (ATA).

           

            4.  Duration of Agreement.  This Agreement shall be retroactive to January 1, 2008 and shall end as September 30, 2008.  This Agreement may be extended at the option of the City Manager.  At the time of termination of Employee’s employment, Employee shall be paid all accrued benefits that are subject to cash-out per State law or the terms of the ATA MOU in effect at the time of separation.
