Subject:          Design Agreement for the Bicknell Avenue Street Greening Project

Recommended Action

Staff recommends that the City Council:

1.      authorize the City Manager to negotiate and execute a modification to the professional services agreement with Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. in an amount not to exceed $106,000 for design services of the Bicknell Avenue Street Greening Project; and

2.      appropriate $106,000 from the Stormwater fund balance for the professional services agreement with Kimley-Horn and Associates.

Executive Summary & Discussion

On March 11, Council reviewed concept design options and provided input on the Bicknell Avenue Street greening project between Neilson Way and Main Street.  A component of the staff report recommended that $106,000 be appropriated from the Stormwater Fund balance in order to increase the professional services agreement with Kimley-Horn Associates in order to develop schematic design documents for the project based on input received by Council on March 11, 2008. At the time the matter was heard there were four Council members present. Since the appropriation of funds requires five votes, the appropriation of funds and the related modification to the professional services agreement was continued to the March 25, 2008 Council meeting.
