Notice is hereby given that a regular meeting of the Social Services Commission will be held on Monday, August 22, 2005 beginning at 7:00 p.m. to discuss the following business:

 

 

1.      Call to Order

 

2.      Roll Call

 

3.      Approval of Minutes

4.      Public Input: Public comment is permitted only on items not on the agenda that are within the subject matter jurisdiction of the body. A chit should be completed indicating items for public input.

 

5.   Committee Reports: Discussion of and possible action on committee recommendations and action steps including the possible dissolution or consolidation of existing committees.

 

  1. Older Youth Issues and Needs: Access to and availability of social services for youth ages 16-24. 

 

  1. Violence (Interpersonal/Community): Impact of violence on the Santa Monica community as a whole with emphasis on under-represented neighborhoods.  

 

  1. New Approaches to Addressing Homelessness: City strategies in addressing homelessness, including a review of staff recommendations to the City Council.  

 

6.  Old Business

 

A.     FY 2005-06 Social Services Commission Budget: Discussion of and possible action on the budget for the year.

 

B.    Social Services Commission Retreat: Discussion of and possible action on the location, time and content of the Social Services Commission’s annual retreat.

 

7.      Announcements/Staff Updates
