Notice is hereby given that a regular meeting of the Social Services Commission will be held on Monday, April 25, 2005 beginning at 7:00 p.m. to discuss the following business:

 

1.      Call to Order

 

2.      Roll Call

 

3.      Approval of Minutes

4.      Public Input: Public comment is permitted only on items not on the agenda that are within the subject matter jurisdiction of the body. A chit should be completed indicating items for public input.

 

5.   Committee Reports: Discussion of and possible action on committee recommendations and action steps including the possible dissolution or consolidation of existing committees.

 

  1. Older Youth Issues and Needs: Access to and availability of social services for youth ages 16-24. 

 

  1. Violence (Interpersonal/Community): Impact of violence on the Santa Monica community as a whole with emphasis on under-represented neighborhoods.  Report on the April 9, 2005 Gang Violence Community Workshop.

 

  1. New Approaches to Addressing Homelessness: City strategies in addressing homelessness, including a review of staff recommendations to the City Council.  

 

6.  Old Business

 

A.     Report by Commissioner Blumenberg on the April Family Self Sufficiency Award Ceremony

 

B.     Report by Commissioner Blumenberg on the Consolidated Plan Community Workshop

 

7.  New Business

 

A.  Discussion of and possible action on a letter to the City Council regarding Council Liaison appointments to the Commission.

 

B.  Free Your Mind Mental Health Awareness Event: Report by Commissioner Gunn on the current status of the Free Your Mind Mental Health Awareness Event.

 

8.      Announcements/Staff Updates
