Notice is hereby given that a special meeting of the Social Services Commission will be held on Monday, March 14, 2005 beginning at 7:00 p.m. to discuss the following business:

 

AGENDA

 

1.      Call to Order

 

2.      Roll Call

 

3.      City Of Santa Monica 2005-2010 Consolidated Plan: Discussion of and possible action on presentation by City staff regarding the 2005-2010 Consolidated Plan

 

4.      Discussion of and possible action on presentation by Julie Lansing, Santa Monica Housing Authority, and Kristina Eppler, St. Joseph Center, on the Family Self-Sufficiency Program.

 

5.      Public Input: The Commission will hear from the public on issues pertaining to topics of concern related to the Commission.  An opportunity for public input on agenda items for this meeting will be provided after each item is presented, prior to Commission discussion.  A chit should be completed indicating items for public input.

 

5.   Committee Reports: Discussion of and possible action on committee recommendations and action steps including the possible dissolution or consolidation of existing committees.

 

  1. Older Youth Issues and Needs: Access to and availability of social services for youth ages 16-24. 

 

  1. Violence (Interpersonal/Community): Impact of violence on the Santa Monica community as a whole with emphasis on under-represented neighborhoods.

 

  1. New Approaches to Addressing Homelessness: City strategies in addressing homelessness, including pilot project to reduce chronic homelessness.

 

6.  Old Business

 

A.     Social Services Commission Work Plan and Budget: Discussion of and possible action on finalizing the Commission’s Work Plan and Budget for the remainder of FY 2004-05.

 

B.     City staff update on the future operation of SAMOSHEL.
