 About Us

Through its six divisions, the Department of Community and Cultural Services works to enhance recreational and cultural opportunities for the enjoyment of Santa Monica residents and visitors.

The Administration Division (1685 Main Street, Room 210) manages capital improvement projects designed to advance the goals of the City's Parks and Recreation Master Plan and Open Space Element. The Administration Division also provides support to the City's Recreation and Parks Commission.

The Civic Auditorium Division manages operations and events at the Civic Auditorium (1855 Main Street).

The Community Programs Division provides recreational opportunities that enhance the health and well-being of the whole community.

The Cultural Affairs Division enlivens the cityscape with public art and cultural opportunities, and works to encourage the participation of artists in the life of the community.

The Human Services Division is responsible for social services including recreation, education and community programs that address the needs of infants,  children, teens, families, people with disabilities, seniors, victims of domestic violence and low-income individuals, including those who are homeless.

The Open Space Management Division develops policies to aid in the active and passive enjoyment of city parks, beach areas and public facilities.
