Colorado Esplanade

Project Information

A newly designed promenade will be created to connect the Expo Light Rail station to Ocean Avenue, the Pier, and the future Palisades Garden Walk park. The reconfigured roadway will expand bicycle and pedestrian facilities and increase landscaping and public art to create a visual and functional focal point between the Downtown and Civic Center. The renowned landscape architecture firm Peter Walker Partners will lead the design team. The project construction is partially funded by a grant from Metro.

Construction for this project is anticipated to begin in 2014 and be completed in 2015, in advance of the Expo light rail completion.
