The Board has no knowledge about the types or quality of services provided by these organizations or by any individual attorney who may be recommended by them. Except for those listed, the Board has no knowledge as to the fees, if any, which may be charged for consultation or other services provided. Disability Rights Legal Center - Provides mediation services to persons with disabilities or those whose conflicts involve a person or persons with disabilities

Human Services, City of Santa Monica - Develops and implements social policies and programs that address the needs of community members of all ages

Westside Center for Independent Living - Coordinates a variety of services for persons with disabilities

 

Housing – Discrimination & Consumer Issues

City Attorney, Consumer Protection Unit, Santa Monica - Investigates complaints of illegal lockouts, utility shutoffs, discrimination, tenant harassment & consumer fraud

Dept. of Consumer Affairs, Los Angeles County - Provides information regarding state landlord/tenant law and other consumer issues

 

Housing – Low Income

Community Corporation of Santa Monica - Owns/operates units in Santa Monica for low to moderate-income households.

Housing Authority (Section 8) - Coordinates the federal Section 8 program in the City of Santa Monica

Production & Preservation – Santa Monica Housing Division - Inclusionary housing program, affordable rental housing and a senior resource directory

Housing – Emergency & Social Services

211 LA County - Referral to community services

CLARE Foundation - Substance abuse assessment/referral

OPCC - Provides case management, crisis intervention, outreach, referrals and meals to homeless individuals

St. Joseph Center - Emergency and long-term services to homeless and low-income people.

Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles - Provides legal assistance to very low- to moderate-income Santa Monica residents on landlord/tenant, government benefits, domestic violence, family law, unemployment and wage claim issues

Santa Monica Bar Association, Lawyer Referral & Info Service - Provides referrals to attorneys, $25 for initial half-hour consultation

Los Angeles County Bar Association, Smart Law Line - Recorded informational messages 24 hours a day.

Los Angeles County Bar Association, Attorney Referral Service - Referrals to free or low-cost attorneys for low-income clients

Bet Tzedek Legal Services - Assists low-income residents with legal issues but excludes Santa Monica landlord/tenant issues

Los Angeles Housing Law Project - Provides low-cost consultations to tenants in eviction-related actions. Fees are on a sliding scale based on income and family size
