Hazardous Materials Regulatory Requirements
|
Businesses that use hazardous materials or generate hazardous waste are subject to regulatory oversight. If your business uses hazardous products and meets one or more of the following, your business is subject to regulatory oversight.
- The business handles, stores or uses a hazardous material in aggregate quantities at or above 55 gallons for liquids, 500 pounds for solids, or 200 cubic feet of gas;
- The business handles, stores or uses a radioactive material listed on Table 1 of Nuclear Regulatory Commission Regulation (Title 10, Code of Federal Regulation) web site above the quantities listed;
- The business has chemicals in amounts equal to or greater than 10,000 pounds (liquid, solid, or gas);
- The business has threshold planning quantities (TPG) of an extremely hazardous substance listed on
- The business handles, stores or uses a hazardous material at or above the Uniform Fire Code Permit
amounts listed on Table 3;
- The business generates hazardous waste.
