Annual Environmental Workshop
The Airport Commission will conduct its Annual Environmental Workshop to review data and information associated with aviation related environmental issues.
a) Introduction by Bob Trimborn, Airport Director
Overview of the workshop format / agenda and introduction of presenters.
b) Discussion of aviation air quality issues and the regulatory environment affecting aviation & airports and related topics; review of environmental initiatives
and programs currently underway at Santa Monica Airport by Robert Trimborn, Airport Director, City of Santa Monica.
c) General air quality overview; discussion regarding Southern California air quality issues and studies; review of the South Coast Air Quality Management
District’s General Aviation Study at SMO and the supplemental study in 2010 during the runway closure by Dr. Philip Fine, Atmospheric Measurements Manager, SCAQMD.
d) Presentation of the UCLA study entitled: Aircraft Emission Impacts in a Neighborhood Adjacent to a General Aviation Airport in Southern California by
Professor S.E. "Susanne" Paulson, Department of Atmospheric & Oceanic Sciences and The Institute of the Environment, Aerosol Atmospheric Chemistry Group, University of California Los Angeles.
e) Discussion of recent Hillsboro Airport Lead Dispersion study and the soon to commence LAX Emissions Source Apportionment Study by Dr. John Pehrson, Associate, Camp Dresser & McKee.
f) Discussion regarding health effects of air pollution by Dr. Richard J. Jackson, Professor and Chair, Environmental Health Sciences, School of Public Health University of California Los Angeles.

h) Question and Answer Session Moderated by Chair Richard Brown
- Representatives from local neighborhood organizations will be allowed five (5) minutes to ask questions and make comments related to the information
and topics presented and/or discussed during the workshop presentations.
- The public is invited to participate in a question and answer session. Questions must be related to the information and topics presented and/or discussed during the workshop presentations.
Persons may either submit up to three written questions to staff or submit a chit and request to speak.
Note: Persons choosing to request to speak will be limited to 3 minutes.

Staff will brief the Airport Commission on the current status of the Santa Monica Airport Visioning Process for information and discussion purposes.

a) Presentation of Commercial Operator Permit Applications for Aviation Related Businesses
Staff will present the following aviation related Applications for Commercial Operations Permits for recommendation to the City Manager: (None)
