| sustainable city plan
What does it mean to be sustainable? In general, it means that a person, or city, or world can meet its social, economic and environmental goals, without compromising the ability of future generations to do the same. The word itself provides the reason: from the Latin word sustinere for "holds itself up", anything that is not sustainable will eventually collapse.
Santa Monica measures its progress towards sustainability with eight indicators towards a healthy community. Click on the link below to learn more about each, and watch for the release of this years' report card later this month.
